CHAPTER 2

Understanding that the Word of God is Powerand Life:

The Word of God is Power:

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for,the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report.Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Butwithout faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God mustbelieve that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seekhim." (Heb 11:1-3,6)

The 12 Creative Statements of God:

1) "And God said, Let there be light: and therewas light." (Gen 1:3)

2) "And God said, Let there be a firmament inthe midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." (Gen1:6)

3) "And God said, Let the waters under the heavenbe gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and itwas so." (Gen 1:9)

4) "And God said, Let the waters under the heavenbe gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and itwas so." (Gen 1:9)

5) "And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so." (Gen1:11)

6) "And God said, Let there be lights in the firmamentof the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:" (Gen 1:14)

7) "And God said, Let the waters bring forthabundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly abovethe earth in the open firmament of heaven." (Gen 1:20)

8) "And God said, Let the earth bring forth theliving creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast ofthe earth after his kind: and it was so." (Gen 1:24)

9) "And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea,and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. And God blessedthem,

10) and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, ( have wholly - He is a rewarder) and subdue it:and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air,and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth." (Gen1:26,28)

11) "And God said, Behold, I have given you everyherb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree,in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be formeat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, andto every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I havegiven every green herb for meat: and it was so." (Gen 1:29-30)

12) "And the LORD God said, It is not good thatthe man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him." (Gen2:18)

God said it: And It Was So!

Through faith we understand that the worlds wereframed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made ofthings which do appear. Heb. 11:2

The Word is Life:

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profitethnothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."(John 6:63 KJV)

Definition: The word spirit: G4154. pneo, pneh'-o; aprim. word; to breathe hard, i.e.breeze:--blow.

Man was created and given life by the breath,or Spirit of God!

"And the LORD God formed man of the dust of theground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man becamea living soul." (Gen 2:7 KJV)

Definition:The word breathed: H5301. naphach, naw-fakh';a prim. root; to puff, in various applications ( to inflate, blow hard, scatter, kindle, expire):--blow, breath, give up, snuff.

Receiving the breath and life of God through HisWord!

All scripture is given by inspiration of God,and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instructionin righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnishedunto all good works. (2 Tim 3:16-17)

Definition:The word inspiration: 2315. theopneustos,theh-op'-nyoo-stos; divinely breathed in:--given by inspiration ofGod.

Born Again by the Word!

"There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus,a ruler of the Jews: The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him,Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do thesemiracles that thou doest, except God be with him. Jesus answered and saidunto him, Verily, verily, I say untothee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom ofGod. Nicodemus saith unto him, Howcan a man be born when he is old? Can he enter the second time into his mother'swomb, and be born? Jesus answered,Verily, verily, I say unto thee,Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannotenter into the kingdom of God.That which is born of the flesh isflesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that Isaid unto thee, Ye must be born again. The windbloweth(God’sbreath!)where it listeth, and thou hearestthe sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth:so is every one that is born of the Spirit." (John 3:1-8 KJV)

"Of his own will begat he us with the word oftruth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures." (James1:18 KJV)

"Being born again, not of corruptible seed, butof incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word ofthe Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preachedunto you." (1 Pet 123-:25 KJV)

When an individual believes and receives the wordof God, he receives an effectual and vital life giving force, he receivesGod Himself.

"It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profitethnothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."(John 6:63 KJV)

Receiving The Living Word:Jesus

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word waswith God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. Allthings were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that wasmade..... He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the worldknew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.But as many as received him, to themgave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on hisname: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor ofthe will of man, but of God.And the Word was made flesh, anddwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begottenof the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:1-3, 10-14)

Receiving The Written or Spoken Word:Apostolic Authority:

He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he thatreceiveth me receiveth him that sent me. (Mat 10:40)

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receivethwhomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him thatsent me. (John 13:20)

I have manifested thy name unto the men whichthou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me;and they have kept thy word. Now they have known that all things whatsoeverthou hast given me are of thee. For I have given unto them the wordswhich thou gavest me; and they have receivedthem, and have known surely that I cameout from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me. (John17:6-8)

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word istruth. As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into theworld.Neither pray I for these alone, butfor them also which shall believe on me ((through theirword;))(John 17:17-18, 20)

Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you:as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. (John 20:21)

Go ye therefore, and teach allnations, baptizing them in the name of theFather, and of the Son, and of the HolyGhost:Teaching them to observe all thingswhatsoever I have commanded you:and, lo, I am with you always, evenunto the end of the world. Amen. (Mat 28:19-20)

Definition:of the word sent: 649. apostello, ap-os-tel'-lo; from G575 and G4724; setapart, i.e. (by impl.) to send out (prop. on a mission) lit. or fig.:--putin, send (away, forth, out), set [at liberty].

From which we get the word Apostle

"For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word ofGod((which ye heard ofus,))ye received it not as the word ofmen, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh alsoin you that believe." (1 Th 2:13 KJV)

The New Testament Church unfailinglyadhered to the teachings of the Apostles:

Then they that gladly received his word were baptized:and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly inthe apostles' doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and inprayers.(Acts 2:41-42)

Believing in the Full Plan Of God: The GospelOf Truth:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word waswith God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. Allthings were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that wasmade. (John 1:1-3)

Definition:The word Word: 3056. logos, log'-os;from G3004; something said (including the thought); by impl. a topic (subjectof discourse), also reasoning (the mental faculty) or motive; a computation;3004. lego, leg'-o; a prim. verb; prop. to "lay" forth, i.e. to relate inwords usually of systematic or set discourse;)

In the beginning, before anything at all existed, was God alone. God is an invisible Spirit. God in the beginning planned out(logos) all the rest of eternity. According to plan, God brought forth allthat exists. All that exists, exists ultimately to bring glory to God. Allthat exists must ultimately declare that God exists. Then with this declarationand obedience to His will comes the privilege to eternally co-exist withGod. We must declare that God exists. We must declare that God has a planand will. We must declare that God’s plan and will are found in HisWord. We must submit to God. We must submit to God’s Word.

Remember the former things of old: for I am God,and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me, Declaring theend from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yetdone, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure:... yea,I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I willalso do it. (Isa 46:9-11)

For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Rom.14:11)

That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; Andthat every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the gloryof God the Father. (Phil 2:10-11)

Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear muchfruit; so shall ye be my disciples. As the Father hath loved me, so haveI loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shallabide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abidein his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remainin you, and that your joy might be full. This is my commandment, That yelove one another, as I have loved you. (John 15:8-12)

If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John14:15)

For this is the love of God, that we keep hiscommandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is bornof God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh theworld, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeththat Jesus is the Son of God? (1 John 5:3-5)
